We're fortunate that Chicago writer Renée Rosen, author of the bestselling novel Dollface, chose The Book Stall for the launch of her newest work of historical fiction, What the Lady Wants: A Novel of Marshall Field and the Gilded Age. It's
the tale of the visionary Chicago retail tycoon who made his fortune
wooing women customers with his famous motto: "Give the lady what she
wants." His
legendary charm also won the heart of socialite Delia Spencer, and led
to an infamous love affair--and that's what Renée's novel is all about!
Hear her discuss the book with her friend and fellow Chicago author Rebecca Makkai, who was recently at the store for a signing of her latest, The Hundred-Year House.
