Wednesday Janurary 27th marked a sad day in literary when both J.D Salinger and historian Howard Zinn passed away.
The reclusive Salinger was most noted for his novel, Catcher in the Rye. This novel has the notoriety of being not only one of the most banned books in this nation, but also being one of the most commonly taught books.
Howard Zinn, historian, WWII veteran, and provocateur also died Wednesday. Zinn is the author of the controversial alternative history A Peoples History of the United States. A work in which he sought to illuminate the history of minorities, women, and the under represented.
