 John F. Ross, Executive Editor of American Heritage magazine, speaks at 9 a.m. about War on the Run: The Epic Story of Robert Rogers and the Conquest of America's First Frontier, his biography of the man hailed as the father of today's elite special forces--a wilderness warrior in Colonial times as well as North America's first noteworthy playwright and an authentic celebrity. 

John W. Hall, Assistant Professor of Military History at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, speaks at 11:30 a.m. about Uncommon Defense: Indian Allies in the Blackhawk War, his story of the 1832 Blackhawk War fought on Illinois soil, pitting Indian tribes allied with the U.S. Army against fellow Native Americans attempting to reoccupy land earlier ceded to American settlers.
