REBECCA SKLOOT
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

The award-winning Chicago science writer speaks about her phenomenal book, the story of a poor black tobacco farmer whose cells—taken without her knowledge in 1951—became one of the most important tools in medicine, vital for developing the polio vaccine, cloning, gene mapping, in vitro fertilization, and more.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks was named by more than 60 critics as one of the best books of 2010, has been translated into 25 languages, and is soon to be made into an HBO movie.

Admission:  The purchase of the paperback book ($16) admits two people.  Hardcover copies are also available.
