A new year of outstanding author events begins

The 13-time Emmy Award-winning Today show star Al Roker  has one of the hottest new books of the year, Never Goin' Back: Winning the Weight-Loss Battle for Good. He'll be at the store to tell all about his lifelong battle with weight issues and how he kept faith in himself. It's a story to inspire others to lose weight, keep it off for good, and regain their health.

Simon Winchester When Hurricane Sandy caused Simon Winchester to cancel his trip from New York to The Book Stall last fall, we knew he'd reschedule as soon as possible. We're delighted to welcome him to talk about his spellbinding new book, Skulls: An Exploration of Alan Dudley's Curious Collection, the story of an obsessive British collector of the skulls of amphibians, birds, fish, mammals, and reptiles.  Winchester's book displays more than 300 of the most exquisite examples of Dudley's collection, from an aardvark to a red-bellied piranha to a wrinkled hornbill. Each skull is beautifully photographed, often from several angles, to give the most intimate view possible. And each skull includes a short explanatory paragraph and information on the animal's taxonomy, behavior, and diet.

Winchester's previous bestsellers include The Professor and the Madman and  Krakatoa: The Day The World Exploded.

Visit our full calendar all month long for updates and new events. We;re always happy to see you in the store.
