Join us for wine and cheese and a visit with Colum McCann, author of the National Book Award-winning Let the Great World Spin. His newest novel (that has the book world abuzz!) is TransAtlantic,
a story that spans continents and centuries and unites a cast of
characters both real and imagined. Its setting jumps from Newfoundland
in 1919, where two aviators set course for Ireland to attempt the first
nonstop transatlantic flight; to Dublin in the mid-1800s, where
Frederick Douglass is touring to support his subversive autobiography;
and to New York in 1998, where Sen. George Mitchell departs for Belfast
to shepherd the bitter Northern Ireland peace talks to a conclusion.
