Renowned neuropsychiatrist Dr. Dan Siegel, a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, speaks on the subject "Brainstorm: How Parents Can Best Support the Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain." In his talk, Dr. Siegel will reveal what science suggests is a new view of the teenage brain, one that posits four key traits of adolescence: emotional spark, social engagement, novelty seeking, and creative exploration. This is the subject of his new book Brainstorm: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain, due out in December.

In addition to his evening presentation, Dr. Siegel will appear at
  • 1 pm at Cornog Auditorium at an event for clinicians, titled "Minding the Teenage Brain: Adolescence as a Period of Opportunity and Vulnerability for Mental Health."
