Join James Bellanca and Arline Paul for an afternoon of talk about their book Becoming Self-Directed Learners: Student & Faculty Memoirs of an Experimenting High School 40 Years Later, co-edited with Mark Paul. Certainly of special significance to our community, it looks back on New Trier High School's 10-year-long Self-Directed Learning program that began in 1972. Arline Paul was the sole faculty member who taught in the Center from its alpha to its omega. For the book, more than 35 graduates of the program, including Sen. Mark Kirk and actress Virginia Madsen, contributed autobiographical sketches about the effects of deeper learning on their careers and lives.
