Please make an effort to meet Chicago writer (and
Northwestern grad)
Christina HenrĂquez, whose new novel The Book of Unknown Americans
has already been described as a new American classic. It's the love story of two young immigrants, a beautiful girl from Mexico and a boy from Panama and the friendship that develops between their two very different families.

Woven into their stories are the voices of men and women who have come to the United States from all over Central and Latin America, certainly a very topical subject in our country right now.
Click here to reach the author's website, read the book's many rave reviews, and hear Nina interviewed on NPR and elsewhere.

And there's more: One of Cristina's hopes for The Book of Unknown Americans  is that it might inspire the telling of other stories people don't usually hear.  Her "Unknown Americans Project" invites immigrants to describe where they came from and what their lives in the United States are like now. Click here to read some of the responses she has received.
