Rebecca Alexander, a psychotherapist and extreme athlete who is almost completely blind and deaf, speaks about her book Not Fade Away: A Memoir of Senses Lost and Found.
She tells the extraordinary story of the rare genetic mutation called
Usher Syndrome type III she was born with and a shattering accident at
age 18--and meditates on what she has lost and what she has found in
return.
Rebecca is the sister of NBC News journalist Peter Alexander. Click here for a video of him interviewing her on the Today show.
