Award-winning author David Laskin talks about his book, The Family: A Journey into the Heart of the Twentieth Century. It is the story of one extraordinary family--his own--that originated in a yeshiva town at the western fringe of the Russian empire and eventually travelled three very different roads. One branch immigrated to America and founded two businesses, including the Maidenform Bra Company; one went to Palestine as pioneer farmers and participated in the violent birth of the State of Israel; the third branch remained behind in Europe and suffered the onslaught of the Nazi Occupation. This event is open to the public.
