Richard Peck

Richard Peck, will be in the store this Sunday reading from, and signing copies of his newest book "A Season of Gifts".  He has written 36 novels for young readers, he is the winner of the Newbery Medal for "A Year Down Yonder," and the National Humanities Medal for his contributions to Children’s Literature.

His newest work reacquaints readers with Grandma Dowdel, the quirky and singularly formidable (and secretly charming) small town Indiana woman. When a preacher’s family moves in next door to Grandma Dowdel, they discover the pleasures of her many talents and her gift for cranky kindness.

The Washington Post calls Grandma Dowdel, “…a force of nature that even nature can't quite contain,” and says Peck’s latest is, “Full of read-aloud lines that hover between humor and heartbreak, …an invitation to families everywhere to begin a tradition of giving gifts that will endure.”

Mr. Peck’s work is a favorite among The Book Stall staff, area teachers, and librarians, so come on down and meet the author!
