We
mourn the passing this week of Nora Ephron, an author with very special
meaning for us here at The Book Stall. In 2006, Ms. Ephron was the
guest of honor at Columbia College Chicago for an event honoring my
late husband, David Rubin, who was on the Executive Board at Columbia
when he died in 1996. Ms. Ephron had just published what would become
a big bestseller, I Feel Bad About My Neck -- and I remember how she made us laugh and cry! To quote from her book: "Why do people write books that say it's better to be older than to be younger? It's
not better. Even if you have all your marbles, you're constantly
reaching for the name of the person you met the day before yesterday."
